What's new ?

I have added some information about an astronomy event  we had at the school in Nicaragua to the About Me tab.   I was able to take a telescope down to Nueva Guinnea, Nicaragua and hold several astronomy nights.  I was able let about 75-100 people look through the telescope and do a presentation about some of the wonders of the universe.  This included a scale model of the solar system, which is always a hit no matter where you go.

Help Out:

Below are a couple of links to organizations that I really believe in and am very involved with.

Check them out, we could use your help!  To see how I am involved, go the About Me page.

Welcome !

This is where several of my interests and hobbies have come together.  I have been posting my astronomy images on my Flickr account, but I wanted to learn a little bit about building websites. This is my first real attempt at it, so it is a work in progress.

I love the outdoors and love taking pictures of it and sharing those pictures with others.  Browse through my galleries at the left.  I am working on a "how to" section to help explain how you take these types of pictures.  It took me quite a while to learn how to (and I am still learning).  Hopefully, I can help you to cut down the learning curve.

You might be wondering where I got the name of the website.  It comes from the Book of Genesis in the Bible.

SaturnThe creation story can be found in Genesis chapter 1. The inspiration for this website starts at verse 14.  I have copied it below.  As you can see, from this description and the pictures that I enjoy, it is a perfect fit.  Plus, I am surprised that the domain name was still available.

"14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

So that is where all the "cool" stuff in sky comes from.  The entire creation story can be found in the book of Genesis.  However, that is not the end of the story.  God created man in His own image, but man turned away from God.  Instead of God turning His back on us, He provided a way to reconcile us to Him.  He sent His only son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our disobedience.  The Bible says "He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, will have everlasting life - John 3:16.  That is all it takes.  Romans 10:9 says "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."  If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at the email address given at the end of the "About Me" tab.
